Associate Therapist

Supervised by Anneli Richards, LMFT

I'm Alex! I'm a Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor with a B.A. in Psychology from Sacramento State and an M.A. in Clinical Counseling from the University of San Francisco. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) being supervised at Family Matters by Anneli Richards.

My career began primarily in residential treatment programs and correctional facilities, where I worked with adults in recovery. Over the years, I've learned that substance use impacts the whole family system -- and that supporting children and families through those challenges is just as important as helping the individual in recovery. I truly love working with children. Before becoming a therapist, I taught swim lessons, worked as a substitute teacher, and provided ABA therapy for kids on the autism spectrum.

I am EMDR-trained and use a blend of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailoring each session to the unique needs of the person sitting across from me. At the heart of my work is a passion for helping clients discover their self-worth, encouraging self-compassion, and highlighting their inherent strengths.
